About the Book

One man can make—or break—Earth’s iron grip on its galactic colonies: Stone Chalmers. Spy. Assassin. Earth’s top operative.

On the newly-rediscovered colony world of Freeland, an Earth operative is murdered. Stone’s mission: travel through an artificial wormhole to a distant planet. Find the killers. And terminate them.

Nanotechnology rewrites his DNA. A false identity is layered over his mind. Stone goes undercover as someone else— body and soul.

But Freeland’s shadows hide more than one dead spy. Powerful men and dangerous women are engineering a conspiracy that will kill tens of thousands of colonists and shatter Earth’s control of the planet. Worse, the plot has allies inside Earth’s own government.

Stone has days to unravel the truth. If he fails, a world burns.

The first adventure in a complete four-novel series of science fiction espionage. Fans of James Bond in space and the intrigue of Dan Moren’s Galactic Cold War will want to look inside.

Previously published as The Progress of Mankind.
